Who we are

MongoliaHandbook ("we") is a free, independent online travel guide to Mongolia. You can reach us through the contact page.

Information we collect

• No accounts. You can read the whole site without signing up or giving us any personal information.
• Saved places and trip plans. When you save places, dishes or festivals, or choose a season, this is stored only in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time from your browser or with the "Clear" button on the trip planner.
• Contact form. If you send us a message, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply. We keep messages only as long as needed to deal with them, and we do not share them or use them for marketing.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

Cookies and advertising

This site may show advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and to measure their performance.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Apart from advertising, the site uses no tracking or analytics cookies. The admin area uses a single strictly necessary session cookie for editors only.

Other services that receive your data

• Maps. Maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap servers, which receive your IP address when a map is shown (OSMF privacy policy).
• Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (Vercel privacy policy).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its use. To make a request, use the contact page. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings; blocking cookies will not stop the site from working.

Children

The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example when we add or change a service. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
